Skull Tea Bowl Tea Rebecca Graves Pottery Skull Tea Bowl Tea Rebecca Graves Pottery
Soldout
$ 28.00

Skulls have fascinated me since childhood. I’ve always been interested in what lies beneath the surface and this certainly qualifies! It is soothing to me to consider that each of us is made the same way from the inside and the primary variations begin with such subtle differences in our skeletal system. Perhaps that is a bit too deep to contemplate while discussing something so humble as a tea bowl.

On the other hand, skulls are just badass.

This particular skull stamp was made in the studio based on one of my signature illustrations.

We’ll intuitively choose just the right handmade tea bowl for you. Each one is a little bit different and unique just like you.

Reading tea leaves or sipping your favorite tea for pleasure is one of the best daily rituals I can think of. While sometimes I enjoy a ginormous mug of tea, more often I prefer a small cup with my cast iron tea pot keeping my brew nice and hot for the next refill.

The Artist’s Choice Mug in Black - PRE-ORDER Rebecca Graves Pottery The Artist’s Choice Mug in Black - PRE-ORDER Rebecca Graves Pottery
Sale -31%
$ 25.00 $ 36.00

Everybody loves getting the good kind of surprise mail, right? One of the Gravesco Pottery artists will choose a mug for you from the new Loft Collection. Each mug is unique and will be a lovely surprise in your post.

Working in a production pottery studio where we make the same forms day after day allows us to hone our skills on specific details that make our pottery identifiable as our own. At some point, though, we need to just have some fun! The Artist’s choice mugs are a fun exercise in playfulness. We start with a stack of prepared clay, all the same size, with the intent of making no two mugs exactly the same.

The purchase of an Artist’s Choice Mug will help us level up our studio. We’re calling this mission Expand The Art or #expandtheart. We need to purchase a pugmill for processing and reclaiming clay to save the potters’ wrists from wedging and also to reduce waste. Our goal is $3500 to cover the cost of making the mugs, the pugmill and the shipping. That’s only 140 mugs and with your help sharing the word, that should be a piece of cake! Every time you share on social media and tag us you’ll be entered in a drawing to win a special Artist’s Choice Serving Bowl when the goal is reached. Thank you for supporting the expansion of our studio. You are appreciated!

The #expandtheart fundraiser begins Sunday, April 26th and we’ll keep you posted on our progress over on Instagram and Facebook as well as the blog. You’re all amazing and we love the community you’re helping us create with all your support.

Each mug holds approximately 16 ounces of your favorite hot or cold beverage. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. The clay is a rich shade of tan and the glaze is a sexy black we love as a classic. It's like a pair of black slacks that go with everything (Or let's be honest, during quarantine a pair of black leggings or sweats). Every mug has Rebecca’s signature handle that is pinched just so as it is made so your fingers rest right where hers do. It’s like holding hands but you won’t catch the cooties from it.

We appreciate that you’re about to allow us to choose a new favorite mug for you!

The Cycle of Life Mug Rebecca Graves Pottery The Cycle of Life Mug Rebecca Graves Pottery

$ 30.00 $ 36.00

There is beauty in the cycle of life that combined with my love of vintage etchings inspired this mug featuring a vintage illustration of a bird skull.

When I was in college I toyed with the idea of becoming a medical illustrator. I was fascinated with the detail and accuracy required and would spend hours pouring over vintage medical and anatomical illustrations. Mostly, I learned, I just love to know how things work and found that my talents lie elsewhere. Those illustrations human and animal anatomy still catch my attention.

As I'm making mugs with the vintage plague doctor images for our feed the artists campaign, this particular etching of a bird skull caught my eye and I kept returning to it day after day as I scrolled through my files looking for something else. Finally, considering how much it was on my mind I decided to make a mug for myself with this slightly macabre but hopeful image and thought perhaps you'd like one, too.

For the month of April, $5 from the purchase of every cycle of life mug will go toward the purchase of a fresh food box for an artist in Indianapolis economically impacted by the world pandemic. When you  purchase this handmade mug you're not just buying another mug, you're feeding an artist who has lost their income source during the shelter in place and keeping my team of 8 working and off unemployment.

You are appreciated.

Each mug holds approximately 16 ounces and is both microwave and dishwasher safe.

$ 25.00

The Loft Mug will become your daily go-to for everything from your morning coffee to your evening tea. Curl up and cuddle this generously sized mug while you contemplate the current state of affairs, or even better, while daydreaming of a time the world returns to some sense of normalcy.

Each mug is handmade in our Pottery studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. Up to eight artisans are involved in the making of each ceramic mug. We put our passion and dedication for slow living into every step of the process.

Holds approximately 16 ounces of coffee, tea, water, juice, soup, mac n cheese, wine, frosty cold beer, kombucha, miso or whatever else you might want to put in it.

The signature handle fits comfortably in your hand. Your fingers will nestle into each divot creating a comfortable rhythm of our fingers and yours.

All our pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe (with the exception of the rare occurence when we put some gold luster on something. We've all microwaved something metal in our lives, right? Just to see what happens? No? Just me? I don't buy it).

As always we offer $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order shipped within the continental United States.

Thank you to Michael Louis Schrader for the photos! He was doing another shoot and for a client when I wandered by with a handful of mugs and stuck them out in front of the pretty yellow for him to take a shot of. lol. Thank you, Michael, for always being willing to play along.

Vintage Rose Loft Mug - Special Edition Rebecca Graves Pottery Vintage Rose Loft Mug - Special Edition Rebecca Graves Pottery
Soldout
$ 25.00

The Vintage Rose Loft Mug is a special edition just in time for Mother's Day. If you just love the bejeezus out of it like we do, maybe we'll make some more!

The Loft Mug is a cozy, snuggle up and enjoy a moment's peace kind of mug. The shape is curvy to nestle in your hand but the base is wide enough to be sturdy. You can sit it down on the table without worrying it will tip over.

The throwing rings (marks from my fingers as I make the mug on my potter's wheel) give your fingers a comfortable place to rest or a soft line to trace back and forth with your fingertips in meditation.

It holds a whopping 14-15 ounces of your favorite beverage without looking like a ginormous lug of a mug and the lip is angled just so, on purpose, to be smooth against your lip but sharp enough it doesn't dribble...unless you've filled it with an adult beverage and in that case any dribbling is probably on you.

Yes. You could salt the rim and fill it with a margarita and call it your comfy margarita cup. I'm down with that and your mom probably will be, too, if you give her one for Mother's Day.

During the summer, toss it in the freezer and enjoy a frosty cold beverage or keep your rosé chilled without ice. Because ew. Ice.

It's microwave and dishwasher safe.

For the month of April, $5 from the sale of every Vintage Rose Loft Mug will be used to purchase a fresh food box that will be paid forward to an Indianapolis artist!
