When I first ran across MEEMA I immediately fell in love with the look and then I read their story and was captivated. It checks all the boxes for me - beautiful, elegant, functional and sustainable while also reusing fiber that would otherwise become waste in a landfill. Who knew you could engage in a bit of environmental activism and slow fashion while wearing an apron? Apparently MEEMA did.

About
MEEMA

We design kitchen and home textiles, made with upcycled denim and cotton, to look beautiful, be top performing and as sustainable as possible. We believe that every product should be designed for the ideal combination of joy and function, in balance with nature and produced with ethics at the center of all. Our fabric is made with fibers that jeans manufacturers and yarn mills discard as waste. We give these materials a second life, converting them into durable and beautiful new products. Our own waste is finally used by coffee growers as a natural compost, returning to the earth and continuing the cycle. Our manufacturing process uses minimal resources and energy. For every kilogram of upcycled material we use, 20,000 liters of water are saved!
