  • Locally Foraged Tea Gift Set with Jason Michael Thomas | Urban Awareness Gardens Indianapolis Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | JMT
    Quick shop

Walking through the wild lands with Hugo, his trusted furry sidekick, Jason Michael Thomas of Urban Awareness Gardens forages delicious, wild crafted teas for your health and pleasure.

Imagine settling in your favorite cozy spot with a handmade mug filled with your new favorite caffeine-free herbal tea while you let the stresses of the day drift away.

Each tea jar is handmade by Rebecca Graves and filled with delicious foraged tea from Jason Michael Thomas. Choose from white mulberry, goldenrod or nettle. Each tea jar holds enough loose tea for 4-6 pots of tea. If you don't have a tea pot with a strainer and would like unbleached paper tea bags to fill yourself, drop a note when you check out and we will add a few to your package.

Because the tea is foraged and not farmed, there is a limited supply available.

Are you wondering what these teas taste like? We've got you covered:

    • Goldenrod Tea - wait to steep when the water has cooled from boiling about 3-5 minutes for a smoother flavour. Goldenrod Tea is a gorgeous soft golden green color and tastes herbal with a hint of floral. It's light and fresh on its own or wonderful with a wee bit of honey or citrus.
    • Nettle Tea - this lovely green leafy tea tastes a bit nutty like a pan roasted green tea. We love the Nettle Tea alone, without honey, but it would also be delicious with honey or a hint of vanilla.
    • White Mulberry Tea - oven roasted to bring out the flavor, the White Mulberry Tea is similar to the flavour of an oolong tea. It is also delightful steeped on its own or add a touch of honey to sweeten it slightly.

The gift set includes a handmade mug and a recyclable paper container filled with Jason's delicious tea.

Steeping instructions and more information about the wellness benefits of your tea will be included with shipping.

  • Carriage House Everyday Mug | Turquoise
    Quick shop

The mug you reach for every morning, our Carriage House Everyday Mug is just the right size and comfy to hold.

When designing each piece of pottery, I pay attention to the details that make it truly function in a way that you can't imagine living without it. The Carriage House Everyday Mug holds approximately 12 ounces of your favorite beverage. The dimple in the side of the mug, beneath the handle, gives your knuckles a little extra room when your coffee or tea is piping hot. If you prefer to snuggle your mug with your hand wrapped around it, the dimple is a cozy spot for a steady grip. The handles are my unique pinched design formed by my own fingers so they'll fit yours comfortably and ergonomically.

Do you need some coffee to enjoy with your new cup? You can now purchase my favorite coffee from Tinker Coffee right here!

The mugs are microwave and dishwasher safe, though, I do recommend hand washing since things bang around quite a bit in the dishwasher. If you choose to use the dishwasher anyway, your pottery will last much longer if you're careful to place it where it won't vibrate or bang against other dishes.

The mugs are made using clay made by Kentucky Mudworks (a woman owned clay company) in Louisville, Kentucky. We throw each mug on the potter's wheel and my hands form the indentations in the handle that make it so comfy to hold so each one is a unique work of art that you'll enjoy using every day.

The Turquoise glaze is a serendipitous surprise every time we pull a new mug out of the kiln. You won't be receiving the exact mug in this photo, but you will get one just like it that has its own little glaze personality. That's the beauty of handmade pottery and this special glaze. Every single one is unique.

Each piece of pottery is carefully wrapped and packed to ensure safe delivery.

  • The Espresso Cup or Succulent Planter | City Black Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | Mug
    Quick shop

Take your pick. If you’re an espresso drinker you’ll love this little handmade stoneware cup designed with the great team over at Tinker Coffee to be just the right size and shape for a double shot of your favorite roast. It’s Tinker Coffee, right? Everyone’s favorite small batch roasted coffee is Tinker. Isn’t it? WHAT!? You’ve never had Tinker Coffee? We can remedy that! Hop over to Tinker Coffee and order a bag. You can thank me later. In the meantime...

We’ve discovered that this espresso cup also makes a fantastic succulent planter so if you were thinking you’d only order one for your coffee, you might want to rethink that decision and get one for your plant, too.

Do you need some coffee to enjoy with your new cup? You can now purchase my favorite coffee from Tinker Coffee right here!

The signature Brown Bear clay from Kentucky Mudworks (another female owned business just a couple hours from the studio in Louisville, Kentucky) adds a textural delight to your espresso experience. The silky smooth glaze is a lovely juxtaposition to the velvety feel of the exposed raw clay.

As always, Gravesco Pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe though we always recommend that you hand wash for longevity just because in the dishwasher that jet stream of water can make things bang together and chip. That said, there are several beloved pieces of pottery that I’ve owned for a decade or more that made it through regular dishwashing with no problem because I was careful to place it where it couldn’t bang around against something else.

Each cup is individually thrown on the wheel and glazed by hand so it is normal to expect variations from cup to cup. The serendipity of the process is what we love so much about handmade pottery.

Don’t forget, we offer $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order in the continental United States.

  • Regenerative Mug inspired by Gavrinis Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery |
    Quick shop

Last year a dear friend of mine visited the site of Gavrinis in Brittany France. It's a fascinating neolithic ritual site carved with concentric arches and spirals, waves and cows, and myriad other symbols of the divine feminine. The regenerative nature of the site representing that life will keep renewing, keep moving forward is a lovely message to wake up to with morning tea or coffee.

I was so inspired by the story of her visit and the photographs she brought back that I've been carving these arches ever since. The idea of a neolithic monolith dedicated to renewal and rebirth is, to me, inspiring. If you're interested in learning more about Gavrinis, I have to tell you it is one of Europe's best kept secrets. If you google Gavrinis you will find information about it being a burial mound but as it turns out, wouldn't that mean there are a lot of bodies there? If you google Gavrinis goddess you get a very different picture from an equally reliable group of sources discussing its use as a ritual space dedicated to the divine feminine.

The Gavrinis inspired hand carved mug is going to add a special meaning to your daily rituals as you smile considering that women were celebrated in ancient times and will be again. The small mug holds approximately 12 ounces and the large in the neighborhood of 15-16 ounces.

Do you need some coffee to enjoy with your new cup? You can now purchase my favorite coffee from Tinker Coffee right here!

Each mug is handmade using a dark stoneware clay from Kentucky Mudworks, a woman owned and operated clay manufaturer that we just happen to love a couple hours from our studio.

  • Turquoise Batik Coffee Scoop and Tea Spoon Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | Spoon
    Quick shop

There is just something extra special about spoons. I’ve had a fascination with them since childhood. The more unusual the shape or material, the better. The handmade pottery Turquoise Batik Coffee Scoop was designed to bring a splash of texture and panache to your coffee area and perhaps add a bit of extra joy to your coffee rituals. Don’t stop at coffee, though. The spoons are also terrific for scooping tea, sugar, herbs, spices and also make a terrific amuse bouche dish.

Each handmade spoon is assembled in my Indianapolis studio using a dark brown stoneware from a couple hours south in Louisville, Kentucky. We like to keep things local when we can. The texture on the handle is made using my antique hand carved wooden batik stamp which you can read the story of here. Finally, once it’s out of the kiln and polished up, we add a whisp of natural jute for a bit of texture and to hang the spoon next to your coffee station to keep it safe between uses.

Because of the handmade nature of the Batik Coffee Scoop, you’re going to get one that is like what is shown in the photo, but probably not that exact one. It will have it’s own unique characteristics that we’re confident you’re going to enjoy for years to come.

As always, remember we have $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order when shipped inside the continental United States.

Our handmade pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, though for smaller items like this I recommend a simple and quick hand wash. The jute twine is easy to remove and put back on, though, if you do decide to run it through the dishwasher for a deep clean.

I hope you enjoy your new spoon as much as we enjoy making them.

  • Tinker Coffee Conduit Blend Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery |
    Quick shop

Tinker Coffee’s Conduit Blend has been a staple in our home and studio since I first discovered it shortly after they opened up their roasting studio in Indianapolis. Fast forward to February 2018 and we relocated to Indianapolis and moved into a carriage house apartment walking distance from Tinker.

The only thing that makes a handmade mug better is to fill it with something delicious and intentionally chosen. A handmade pottery mug full of Tinker Coffee is a great way to start your morning ritual.

This coffee was recently awarded a Bronze medal in both the Espresso and Milk-Based Espresso categories at the 2018 Golden Bean coffee competition in Portland, Oregon!

From the Latin word “conducere” meaning “bring together”, Conduit brings together seasonal coffees to produce a bright, clean, and balanced flavor profile. Conduit is great isolated as a shot or with milk in a latte or cappuccino. Enjoy the taste of the season.

    Current Season: Winter

Tasting Notes: Mixed berries, apple pie, vanilla

12 oz whole been coffee in a resealable bag.

  • The Wobble Soup and Latte Mug | Classic White Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | Mug
    Quick shop

Delicious textures that beg to be touched are one of my favorite things in life. I've been using the wheel for most of my pottery the last few years, but after the holidays I decided to play a bit more with my old love, hand building pottery instead of using the wheel for everything. It felt so good to get my hands back in the clay forming and shaping functional wares out of flat slabs. It's a mental challenge to figure out how best to engineer a piece so I can make it again and again while still allowing little things like folds in the clay, the canvas texture from rolling out the slabs of clay and my finger prints shine through.

The handmade stoneware soup and latte mug is the perfect size for a single serving of anything you'd normally eat in a bowl. I'm partial to mac n cheese in mine. It's also fantastic for oatmeal, soup, snacks, yogurt and fruit, a matcha latte, a smoothie, breakfast scramble, noodles, soup (of course) or your favorite Tinker Coffee latte. You're likely to find yourself reaching for this mug daily.

Do you need some coffee to enjoy with your new cup? You can now purchase my favorite coffee from Tinker Coffee right here!

Each of these Wobble Soup and Latte Mugs is handmade using a dark brown stoneware clay we get from Kentucky Mudworks just a couple hours away in Louisville, Kentucky. The glaze we mix here in our studio in small batches.

You may not receive the exact mug in the photo, but you will receive one from this collection that is equally charming and unique. Keep in mind that there will be some lovely serendipity in the surface and the glaze which makes it more than just a mug, it's also a piece of hand crafted, functional art. The white glaze allows the brown clay to shine through in spots throughout, the batik stamped handle has a unique story of its own (you can read more about that here), and the lip dances up and down as it finishes the top of the pot.

We hope you enjoy your new Wobble Soup & Latte handmade pottery mug as much as we enjoyed making it here in our clay studio in Indianapolis, Indiana.

  • Batik Mug for Soup or Latte | Turquoise Glaze Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | Mug
    Quick shop
Snuggle up with your favorite latte or a tasty mug full of soup to ward off a chill or just relax, taking a break from your busy life. You’ll find yourself reaching for this mug every day for everything you’d normally use a mug or a bowl for like:
    -your favorite latte
    -hot cocoa
    -oatmeal
    -cereal
    -soup
    -icecream

The wide handle is stamped with an antique batik stamp for texture which makes it easy and comfortable to grip. The width of the handle makes it easy to hold even when completely full to the rim and the bottom is curved just right to warm your hands if you like to snuggle your mug like we do.

    How the mugs are made:

In the true sense of slow living, each mug is thrown on my potter’s wheel and the stamped handle is added the next day when the clay is just right. Once it dries (slowly so it doesn’t crack) it is bisque fired in one of my electric kilns to remove all the moisture and prepare the mug for glaze. The bisque firing process takes approximately thirty hours from the time we load the kiln until it is cool enough to unload again. The mug is then glazed and back into the kiln it goes for another firing, this time to 2200 degrees f. Twenty-four hours later we open the kiln and I have to tell you, it’s like Christmas every time. It never gets old.

Because of the handmade nature of the mug, each one is a little different. You probably won’t receive the exact mug in the photos, but we promise you’ll receive a similar mug that is equally fabulous. Every single one is unique and we think that is the beauty of handmade.

***The Batik Soup Mug is microwave and dishwasher safe, though I personally prefer to hand wash my favorite pottery rather than allow it to rattle around in the dishwasher. That's just my personal preference, though, and you're welcome to clean your new latte mug however you'd like! If you do choose to put it in the dishwasher, go with the top shelf and make sure it isn't going to rattle against another item that could potentially cause a chip.

The mug holds approximately 11-12 ounces to the tippy top, though because of the unique nature of handmade, that may vary a bit in either direction.

Enjoy $5 flat rate shipping in the continental United States on your entire order!

  • Batik Mug for Soup or Latte | Crimson Red Glaze Gravesco cool handmade ceramics | Rebecca Graves Pottery | Mug
    Quick shop

Snuggled on the sofa in the evening with your new handmade Batik Mug filled with your favorite mac and cheese as you decide whether to catch up on some Netflix or just enjoy some music and read a bit while you gnosh - sounds like a great way to end a hectic day, right?

The Batik Mug was designed to be just the right size and shape for everything from your morning latte to your ramen lunch and evening dinner. We use them more than anything in our cupboard. If you choose to use it for soup and do the quick dash microwave heat up, it’s pretty handy that the batik stamped handle of our stoneware soup mug doesn’t get hot. If you keep yours in the freezer, it’s pretty darn handy for icecream, but I have to tell you, the handle definitely gets cold. It’s kind of nice in August, though.

Farm to Table food enthusiast, chef and urban farmer, Jason Michael Thomas has declared on more than one occasion that this is his favorite piece of pottery.

While I prefer to handwash my favourite pottery rather than let it rattle around in the dishwasher, the Batik Soup Mug is microwave and dishwasher safe. If you do choose to put it in the dishwasher, go with the top shelf and make sure it isn't going to rattle against another item that could potentially cause a chip.

The wide handle is stamped with an antique batik stamp. The texture adds grip while the width makes it easy to hold, even when it’s completely full!

Each mug is wheel thrown then the stamped handle is added. Each one is a little different - that’s the beauty of handmade.

This mug is generously sized to hold a full 12 ounce can of soup with room to spare. This makes it just the right size for soup, mac and cheese, cereal, ice cream, lattes, pasta and anything else you like to eat on the go or snuggled on the sofa.

To learn more about the origin of the Antique Batik Stamp used in making the Batik Collection you can read about it on my blog.
