Sometimes it is fun to just play and make something for the fun of it. Some days that means taking existing pottery and glazing it in colors or ways we wouldn't normally do just because a little variation when we open the kiln makes it even more like Christmas.
The Artist's Choice Coffee Scoop is a handmade ceramic spoon and we've glazed a variety of gorgeous colors. We'll choose a unique spoon just for you that is unlikely to be repeated again because we did it out of pure joy and serendipity, as a break from our normal routine.
The Coffee Scoop can be hung on a hook or nail at your coffee station or in the drawer. It's all up to you. It makes a fantastic gift with a bag of our favorite whole bean coffee from Circadian Coffee Roasters right here in Indianapolis.
Thank you for letting us choose you new favorite coffee scoop for you! You won't get to choose the color, but we're going to have so much fun choosing for you and it'll be a surprise in the post.
Everybody loves getting the good kind of surprise mail, right? One of the Gravesco Pottery artists will choose a mug for you from the new Loft Collection. Each mug is unique and will be a lovely surprise in your post.
Working in a production pottery studio where we make the same forms day after day allows us to hone our skills on specific details that make our pottery identifiable as our own. At some point, though, we need to just have some fun! The Artist’s choice mugs are a fun exercise in playfulness. We start with a stack of prepared clay, all the same size, with the intent of making no two mugs exactly the same.
Each mug holds approximately 12-16 ounces of your favorite hot or cold beverage. They are microwave and dishwasher safe. The clay is a rich shade of tan and the glaze is a sexy black we love as a classic. It's like a pair of black slacks that go with everything (Or let's be honest, during quarantine a pair of black leggings or sweats). Every mug has Rebecca’s signature handle that is pinched just so as it is made so your fingers rest right where hers do. It’s like holding hands but you won’t catch the cooties from it.
We appreciate that you’re about to allow us to choose a new favorite mug for you!
Gravesco Pottery resident ceramic artist, Ryan Van Hoy, has made a limited edition batch of his favorite everyday mug in a high fire stoneware. The gas fired pottery showcases the variation and serendipity of his classic white glaze.
Each mug is uniquely made and while they are a family that goes together, they are not quite identical as each one has the characteristics showcasing the handmade nature and unique firing results from the gas flame and reduction atmosphere in the kiln.
Measures 3.5" high x 3.5" diameter x 5.5" across with the handle.
Holds approximately 12-13 ounces
Microwave and Dishwasher Safe.
Ryan creates unique pottery in small batches. When these are gone, they may never be made again.
Ice clinking against the sides of your tumbler while you sip a double old fashioned with some amazing whiskey or your favorite wine from a box - both will be equally at home in your new favorite cocktail cup by Gravesco Pottery.
The gentle ridges made by our fingertips while throwing at the wheel and the thumb dent just right for a comfy grip add to the tactile experience. If you're like me, the person who plays with the beer label, straw wrappers, toothpicks...always needing a tactile experience to settle the movement in your hands, this is the cup for you. Between sips you'll find yourself tracing the throwing lines or your thumb circling the indentation.
In the summer, keep the cocktail cups in your fridge or freezer and they'll keep your beverage cool longer without ice! Always a win for white wine.
Don't think these pottery tumblers are only for adult beverages. We use them for all our drinks and sometimes for desserts, too. Make a layered pudding or mousse dessert in them. Layer up individual tiramisu or a yogurt parfait with fresh fruit and nuts.
This is truly one of the most versatile cups around. Or, you know, just use it for wine because it feels good, drinks well and is nice and stable.
As always, $5 flat rate shipping in the continental United States on your entire order.
Borosilicate glass cocktail stirs and cocktail pitchers will be coming soon!
We love loose tea and herbal tisanes. What we don’t totally love is the standard tea ball because it doesn’t give the tea enough room to move in the hot water for steeping. When I found these glass tea steepers I was intrigued. The first time I used one I fell in love.
Simply place your tea inside the tube, pop the cork in the top, dunk it into your mug of hot water and allow it to steep as long as is appropriate for your tea blend. When it is done steeping lift it out, let it drain and set it off to the side while you enjoy every sip.
To wash the glass steeper I simply run water in it and flush out the loose tea. If a little piece gets stuck in one of the slits, run water over it or I like to use a bottle brush for a deep clean inside.
The Glass Tea Steeper makes a lovely addition to any of our mugs as a gift for a tea drinker or for treating yourself to a cozy tea ritual.
Your morning ritual of coffee or evening ritual of tea is just a little more special when you have a handmade scoop to add a connection to a slower lifestyle.
Each ceramic spoon is handmade in our studio using a tan stoneware clay and only the inside of the spoon is glazed for an elegant but rustic look. We don't recommend you use this as a spoon for wet things, but it is perfect for dry. Use it to scoop your coffee into the filter or loose leaf tea into the tea pot.
The Coffee + Tea Scoop is dishwasher and microwave safe.
Thank you to Suzy Schmigel of The Cedar Shake for the lovely photos.
Please allow 1-3 weeks for delivery of all our handmade pottery.

Summer evenings sitting in the shade with a tall cool drink of something good, ice clinking in your cup, conversation with someone who lights you up...is there anything better?
The Tall Cool Drink Tumbler holds 16-18oz of your favorite beverage. The ripples in the surface are the result of our resident potter, Becca's fingers as she pulls up and shapes the cup on the potter's wheel. The indentation on one side is a fabulous little "worry" spot to circle your thumb while deep in thought or if you're a fidgeter like I am. Every detail about this cup was designed for maximum enjoyment. They're light weight without being too delicate and the feel in your hand is unmatched.
We love these for ice water, iced tea, iced lattes or coffee, juice, soda, mixed drinks, sangria, beer, the mother of all mojitos (don't drive!), and bloody mary's. On a really hot day it's an added bonus to pop these in the freezer or fridge for an hour before serving so the cup is extra cold.
Pairs beautifully with the cocktail cup.
