There has always been something special about cloth napkins. When I was a kid they were considered extra fancy. As an adult I've banished the idea of "save it for special occasions" and use cloth napkins every day. They're easy to wash and I'm not filling trash cans with barely used paper. I have cloth napkins that are over 20 years old that we still use and love.
We chose Meema brand cotton napkins because their company is in keeping with our values. They design kitchen and home textiles with upcycled denim and cotton to be as sustainable as possible. Like us, they believe that every product should be designed for the ideal combination of joy and function with ethics at the center of it all.
Their napkins and aprons are made with fibers discarded by jeans manufacturers and yarn mills that would be discarded as waste. They give them a second life and their own waste is used by coffee growers as a natural compose, returning to the earth and continuing the cycle. Their manufacturing process uses minimal resources and energy. For every kg of upcycled material, 20,000 liters of water are saved.
It's just another reason to love using cloth napkins.
