"Exploring the transformation series and inspired by the carved rock at Gavrinis, the neolithic passage in Britany, France, I explored making pinched bowls that resembled stones then carving away the outside surface until each one looked like a chiseled rock glazed in a gloss white in juxtaposition with our modern world. I know that's a lot of meaning for a tiny little bowl but starting small and functional allows me to explore more concepts and ideas before working larger. These bowls are a moment captured in the process of exploration contemplating the idea of entering a dark phase of life and after walking through it, immersed in the darkness, we come out the other side into sunshine changed, transformed, and embarking on a new journey." - Rebecca
