Cauldron Bowl
This little cauldron has a habit of wandering.
Most mornings it's holding oatmeal with a drizzle of maple syrup. By lunchtime it's full of soup, still warm enough to cradle in your hands while you read a few more pages before getting back to work. After dinner it catches the last spoonful of apple crumble before the dishes are done.
Then, every so often, it wanders away from the kitchen.
A little black sand settles into the bottom. A charcoal disc glows softly while herbs clipped from the garden and dried from the rafters of the shed curl into fragrant smoke. Wishes are whispered. Gratitude is offered. Something that no longer belongs is released to the air.
By morning it'll be back in the kitchen, cleansed and waiting patiently for oatmeal as though nothing unusual had happened.
Around here, that's a perfectly ordinary day.
