There are a lot of stories and lore out there about the pickle ornaments from the symbolism of transformation of a fleeting vegetable to a long lasting delicacy that provides sustenance to the German good luck symbol. There's even a story floating around that the whole pickle Christmas ornament is a scam created by a glass ornament salesperson trying to sell more vegetable ornaments to Woolworths and no one wanted pickles so he made up the German good luck story.
Regardless of what it means to you, the pickle ornament is now a tradition that is both nostalgic and fun. Heck, maybe it's just an emotional support pickle to you. I'm not going to judge.

Decorative pottery for outdoors should be brought inside for freezing temperatures to ensure water doesn't freeze inside and cause cracking.
