Coffee on the go is the only way to go in my opinion. While I consider virtually any mug to be a travel mug, it's a lot handier to have one with a silicone lid that keeps the liquid gold from splashing onto the center console of your car every morning.
After 3 years of product development and testing different styles I've finally landed on the travel mug that passed everyone's litmus test in the first round of samples. They're easy to clean, fit your cup holder, are eco-friendly handmade pottery, supporting a small woman-owned business, coffee shops seem to love it when you bring in your own cup (at least here in Indianapolis), no more plastic lids going into the landfill, and best of all it is one of a kind. Yep. Even when I make a hundred of something, each one is a little bit different and bears the marks of the makers' hands.
We hope you enjoy your favorite hot (or cold) beverage in one of our handmade classic travel mugs.
We tend to use them without the silicone band around here which seems fine for a latte, cappuccino or even an Americano. We have found, though, that if you love a good drip coffee you're definitely going to want the silicone heat band or be super crafty and make your own coffee sleeve.
The large 18-20 oz travel mug includes a silicone band. The 10oz and 14-16 oz do not at this point. If you get yours and think you really wish you had a silicone band just shoot us a message and when we get our next shipment we'll drop one in the mail for you. We're still learning about what people will really use and attempting to minimize waste.
Your new favorite travel mug is also microwave and dishwasher safe!
The Loft Mug will become your daily go-to for everything from your morning coffee to your evening tea. Curl up and cuddle this generously sized mug while you contemplate the current state of affairs, or even better, while daydreaming of a time the world returns to some sense of normalcy.
Each mug is handmade in our Pottery studio in Indianapolis, Indiana. Up to eight artisans are involved in the making of each ceramic mug. We put our passion and dedication for slow living into every step of the process.
Holds approximately 16 ounces of coffee, tea, water, juice, soup, mac n cheese, wine, frosty cold beer, kombucha, miso or whatever else you might want to put in it.
The signature handle fits comfortably in your hand. Your fingers will nestle into each divot creating a comfortable rhythm of our fingers and yours.
All our pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe (with the exception of the rare occurence when we put some gold luster on something. We've all microwaved something metal in our lives, right? Just to see what happens? No? Just me? I don't buy it).
As always we offer $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order shipped within the continental United States.
Thank you to Michael Louis Schrader for the photos! He was doing another shoot and for a client when I wandered by with a handful of mugs and stuck them out in front of the pretty yellow for him to take a shot of. lol. Thank you, Michael, for always being willing to play along.
The new Vintage Roses Travel Mug is another in the Feed The Artists collection. $5 from each Vintage Roses Travel Mug will be used to purchase a fresh food box that will be paid forward to Indianapolis Artists who are economically impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.
The handmade pottery Vintage Roses Travel Mug is wheel thrown and goes through a total of 3 kiln firings before it is ready to ship out the door to you. The travel lid is 100% silicone and fitted tightly so that even over the years as it stretches from heat and use, it will still fit comfortably and keep the dribbles at bay.
Each mug is one of a kind. You may not receive the exact mugs in the photo but you will receive one equally lovely and unique.

Speaking of coffee, for a limited time we can create a gift bundle for you with a travel mug, handmade coffee scoop and 4 oz bag of one our favorite fresh roasts from Circadian Coffee here in Indianapolis.

After years of throwing all my pots on a wheel because I didn’t have the space for slab work and hand building I’m starting to rediscover the joy of hand building and the rustic elements it brings to functional ware.
The Wobble Bowls are making a fresh appearance on the website again. They small bowls are just the right size for all sorts of dishes from ice cream to pasta, salad and soup or plating beautiful food like Jason Michael Thomas and the larger bowl is perfect for serving 2-6 people a main dish or side dish. It’s also lovely as a centerpiece filled with fruit.
If your food is humble or glorious it will feel special. One of my favorite things about slow living and daily rituals is that even the mundane becomes elevated when you take the time to enjoy the entire experience.
Don’t forget, we have $5 flat rate shipping on all orders shipped in the continental United States!
The wobble bowls measure approximately 6” diameter and 2” high. The Wobble Serving Bowl measures approximately 11” diameter and 3.5” high. Each one is completely unique and shows the marks of the maker’s hands, delightful glaze variations and is an individual work of art.
Every Plague Doctor purchase helps feed an artist in the Indianapolis area impacted by the pandemic happening in the world. $5 from every purchase will be used to purchase a fresh food box from Jason Michael Thomas at Urban Awareness Gardens and paid forward to artists who need some healthy whole foods. We've partnered with Jason Michael Thomas and Urban Awareness Gardens Indianapolis to make sure our creative crew is fed nourishing food so they can keep creating valuable and thoughtful content for the world to enjoy. The balance of the income from the shirts will be used for the actual cost, shipping and employing our crew of 8 artisans during this time of economic uncertainty.
And here's another cool thing, we're helping out even more people than just our 8 and the artists in Indianapolis. The stickers (and other printed merch) are all made here in the United States by other artisans who just need to keep their heads above water right now. The ripple effects of your purchase are bigger than just a cool shirt. You're making a difference.

The printer is experiencing unusually high demand and limited staff while they work to keep everyone as safe as possible. They’re collaborating with other printers across the United States to fill orders as quickly as possible. Please be patient and know we are checking in weekly on progress. Like us, they are filling orders in the same order they are received. Your pottery will arrive separate from your shirt as we’re shipping from different locations so you may receive one and not the other at the same time. We appreciate your patience! ***

Summer may be winding down now that September has arrived but that doesn’t mean an end to delicious cocktails in your new favorite handmade Tiki inspired tumbler.
Holds approximately 16-18 ounces of your favorite poison from a tropical island frothy concoction to just straight gin n juice with a fancy umbrella. You like to play it old-school with a Harvey Wallbanger, this is the cup for you. Not feeling the booze right now? I’ll let you in on a little secret....this is my new favorite chocolate milk cup. You can use it to drink anything you want!
Let me tell you a little bit about how this was made. I started off by throwing a cylinder on the wheel using my favorite clay and let it dry part way until it was just the right texture for carving. The design was free-hand carved, it was allowed to dry completely then the cup was fired to 1800 degrees in my electric kiln. Essentially, that turned this cup into a rolling stamp! Once cooled, I am now able to roll this stamp over a slab of clay, cut it out and hand build the tumbler. It’s not any faster than throwing a cup by hand, in fact it takes about 3x longer than doing it on the wheel, but I love how the textures look and feel using this technique and also appreciate the consistency of the image that I just can’t get if I’m hand carving each individual cup.
I hope you enjoy drinking all your beverages from these new cups because I really enjoyed making them for you!
Remember, we offer $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order in the continental United States and if you’re in Indianapolis you can choose “pick up at studio” for free! We will be having regular pick up hours 2 days each week at our studio in the Mass Ave Maker’s Corridor.
There is just something extra special about spoons. I’ve had a fascination with them since childhood. The more unusual the shape or material, the better. The handmade pottery Turquoise Batik Coffee Scoop was designed to bring a splash of texture and panache to your coffee area and perhaps add a bit of extra joy to your coffee rituals. Don’t stop at coffee, though. The spoons are also terrific for scooping tea, sugar, herbs, spices and also make a terrific amuse bouche dish.
Each handmade spoon is assembled in my Indianapolis studio using a dark brown stoneware from a couple hours south in Louisville, Kentucky. We like to keep things local when we can. The texture on the handle is made using my antique hand carved wooden batik stamp which you can read the story of here. Finally, once it’s out of the kiln and polished up, we add a whisp of natural jute for a bit of texture and to hang the spoon next to your coffee station to keep it safe between uses.
Because of the handmade nature of the Batik Coffee Scoop, you’re going to get one that is like what is shown in the photo, but probably not that exact one. It will have it’s own unique characteristics that we’re confident you’re going to enjoy for years to come.
As always, remember we have $5 flat rate shipping on your entire order when shipped inside the continental United States.
Our handmade pottery is microwave and dishwasher safe, though for smaller items like this I recommend a simple and quick hand wash. The jute twine is easy to remove and put back on, though, if you do decide to run it through the dishwasher for a deep clean.
I hope you enjoy your new spoon as much as we enjoy making them.
